As time goes by, it seems to be my mission to encourage people to think about music in a more conscious way. We tend to like things that are Nice or Groovy. I like Nice and Groovy, but I think we tend to forget to listen to what the music actually is. Does it want to tell us anything other than “Have a good time”?
I made this as preparations for a service. Sadly it was not approved. They did not want to scare or bother people. So we did a nice pop song.
I understand. But I wanted to tell people a story. I wanted them to experience something unexpected. They did not, and everyone was happy.
We need comfort and familiarity. But in a society where we constantly hone our own echo chambers, I like to challenge people. Just a little bit. Sometimes more than just a little.
